Big Girl Room

So, as promised, here are the pictures of Kati's SOON to be New room.

We're working on Kati "Big Girl" room - it's a work in progress. Lots of wrinkles on the new bedding, so please forgive, I just threw it on to see if it looked like what we wanted. It look better in person that we expected, so it's a keeper. It's called "Little MissMatched" because everything is reversible and stripes/dots, etc. It's fun, and best of all, it was Kati's favorite out of all the ones we had picked out.

Here is the curtains/valance (thank you Kris for talking me into ordering the valance).

I wanted to get a close up of the headboard. Kris painted the headboard and the nightstand (next to the bed in the following pictures). They were a dark brown, and he had the idea to paint. The white really makes it look more like a little girl's room and really looks good with the bedding. THANK YOU AGAIN DADDY! Great job painting (especially since a 2 year old was "helping" and touching it as you worked)!

The pillowcases are dots on one side and stripe or zigzag on the other. The colors are so fun. I hope Kati likes it for a long LONG time!

I just realized that I don't have the pillows on the bed. I'll take more pictures as we get more done in the room. We are currently looking for TV stand in white. You'll know why if I took a picture of the TV sitting on the floor in there. She doesn't have a TV in her current room, but in her new room, we thought it would be nice to have a TV so she can watch the Wiggles or Dora (her 2 favorite shows right now) in there and not in our room or the living room all the time. We'll see if this works, as she usually wants to be with us all the time.

See the nightstand! Doesn't it look good? He even bought a new handle for it! Now - for the real question... WHO thinks we should paint the room? It's a neutral color right now.... like Eggshell or something, like the rest of the house. We're taking votes.

Here is a link to the picture of it on amazon.com - you tell me if it's not cuter than the pictures. Ha.. (I bought it on JCP.com, but they are completely out, so they took the pictures off the website).

I should have done before and after shots of this room. Move over extreme makeover - I'm making a kids room fit for a queen (or princess at this point). It may take until 2008, but it will look great!

Love to all - Jami

PS - My pictures didn't turn out real well from The Wiggles Concert this week. It was a blast, but we forgot our camera, and the disposable didn't do real good.

*I CAN NOT believe that August is almost over! It's crazy! Time flies and we just get older. Ha - That's my new quote.

PiMaw (my mom) - Thank you

We are so glad to have PeeMaw (still not sure how to spell her name) - we love the wonderful surprise pictures that we get of Kati during our work day. It makes me smile and look forward to seeing her after work. This is the pictures from today! She loves her PMaw Daycare.

She's like her mommy - LOVES to play with kitchen utensils. Never can have enough. She has a whole drawer of stuff like that. I love that she likes the same things as me from time to time! Makes me remember that she's my kid too! And you have to love that swim suit! I looked a long time to find the perfect one... She's had it all summer and gotten to wear it about 3 times. We've not got to swim much this year. Seems as though Summer has flown by. I LOVE the water. Maybe August, (what - it's almost over? - O well) then I mean September will slow down and we'll get some fun in the sun.

Kris and I have been working with Kati on her smile. She has had some tough times with this. Eyes open, smile but not TOO big.... This will get better with time - maybe?

We don't have much to fill in on Kati. She's wonderful! (most of the time). She's almost 2 1/2 now... This means fits (kicking, screaming, crying on the floor FITS). Potty training is not all that easy either. I'm praying that she just wakes up one day and says - I think I'll go potty in the commode from now on... and when that day comes, I'll let you know. I'm not holding my breath at this point. She really likes her way too. I mean - who doesn't. I wish I could throw fits every time I don't get my way... I do? - O well... maybe I should know where she gets it. We'll pretend she gets it from her Dad then. But he knows the truth. At almost 2 1/2 - she likes to make her own decisions (picking out clothes, food, etc) and I support that. That's normal behavior. But I hear - "I do it" all the time. Like when we're putting on her shoes - that's fine, and when we put the lid on her sippy cup - we'll that's another story. EVERY TIME that happens, juice spills in the floor. The first 30 times to clean it up - finally it's like - Let's see if Mommy can HELP... Please?

We do have a little bit of news. We're working on her "big girl room"... She'll move from her bed - to the BIG GIRL bed and room in a few months. We're working on the room (when we have time) and I'm setting a long term goal on this - like Thanksgiving or something. I'm trying to be logical. I'll send pictures of the progress if I EVER find our digital camera again. It was last seen in Kris's truck, but we have NO clue where it is now. We're going with Dots and Stripes. I Love it and Kati (with some help from EVERYONE else in the family) picked it out. It's going to be wonderful! Kris has even been paining some of the furniture.

Anyone have any thoughts about the transition from Crib to "big kid bed" - any comments would be much appreciated. I was thinking about putting her mattress on the floor of her room for a few months, and/or putting rails on the sides... I guess we're going to play it by ear. She how it goes. Hope for the best - no broken bones - etc.

dr

We're back from the Dr. office and we don't have to go back for 2 years! That's great news! She did VERY well through Both tests, (however she was VERY tired by the time we finally saw the DR). Overall - very good visit. He talked about the same things as last time, that as long as the medicine is working and keeping the infection away, then we don't need to think about surgery. The medicine may continue to work, and she may be pre-teen before we have to do surgery. The reflux is what he was mainly concerned with. Dual ureters was discussed, but one is doing most of the work.

That's all for now - thank you all for your prayers!

Dr

Tuesday we go to the Dr again for testing for Kati. They will check on her kidney/bladder (she has 2 ureters which causes her bladder to allow her urine to go back into the kidney which causes infection - from what I can understand). Please pray for our trip (we go for our first ultrasound at 9:30, 2nd ultrasound (the bad one) where they inject dye at 10 am and our actual DR visit isn't until 2 pm - which we usually wait for hours to see. Dr. Redman is a very busy man. Kris and I are both off for this, and not looking forward to this trip. We are anxious to find out how she's progressing. I will send out our findings on Tuesday night and post pictures and news on the blog that night if possible. Thank you everyone for your prayers! Jami
